Same as you The first time I watched ATLA was less than a year ago, in my junior year of high school, but I loved it so much that I just binge-watched the whole thing over a week. The animation and storyline are both incredible, and it's amazing that it holds up so well, even after... (*Googles the release date*) ...more than 12 years oml. I never was a huge fan of Zutara. Or, come to think of it, Kataang. I think the ship that worked best for me was Zuko/Mai. (Judging how no one's brought them up yet, I'm going to assume this is an unpopular opinion :P) My reasoning for this was pretty simple: Zuko is my favorite male character, and Mai is my favorite female character. (Girl deserved more screentime.) If I like both, then why can't they like each other? Haha. I also thought their personalities were hilarious together. The only thing I didn't like was how quickly the writers just threw them into the story. I began watching the third season and basically fell out of my chair when they began kissing, out of the blue. Mostly I didn't like how the writers handled the romances. Aang is twelve. He is a baby. I meet with twelve-year-olds on the daily, and they are so young that their cheeks are still squishy. Not nearly old enough for a serious relationship. Sokka's were alright. Unnecessary, but alright. At least his romance gave us this glorious exchange: Sokka: My first girlfriend turned into the moon. Zuko: ... That's rough, buddy.

^ Imma second scooter on seeing genre categories - romance, angst, dark/horror, fluff would be good. I'd also love: Best Villain Best Series Best Short Story/Novella (if we're doing medium/types of story, I think I'd be nice to include something for those stories which aren't one-shots or novels, yk?)

We could do something like a Hook, Line, Sinker? The Best Hook would be the story with the best summary (or the opening line) the Best Line would be the story with the best first line (or any other specific line—this one’s similar to best quote) and Best Sinker would be the story with the best closing line.

Omg, yessss! Zuko/Mai is life. They're fantastic together. But seriously, these characters are children. Why would Aang be so into Katara at literally age 12? Bleh. Also, that exchange is flawless.

Most realistic portrayal of mental illness/physical illness/disability. Best portrayal of a non-English speaking country/character from a non-English speaking country (since the site is in English, any portrayal of non-English speaking countries indicate either that the writer is not writing about their own culture or that they are not writing in their first language, with a few exceptions as in when the writer is bilingual or has lived abroad for a long time, and either accurately portraying another country or writing in a language other than your own is impressive). Most success in making readers cry/Best Tearjerker. Most unexpected twist/ending. Best use of language. Best imagery. Best portrayal of family relationships - parent/child, siblings. Death with most impact. Best historical story. Best original fiction. Best crossover. Best worldbuilding. Best development of an aspect of canon - ugh, that's badly explained. I mean things like stories that build on something that is only mentioned in passing, like showing people training to be Healers or exactly what caused the Founders to fall out or how a potion was created. Best inclusion of magic/superpowers. Best series. Best OC. Best portrayal of a child character. Best portrayal of an elderly person. Best villain redemption. Best alternative character portrayal. Most frightening villain. Creepiest/most frightening horror. Best creation of tension/suspense. Best unreliable narrator. Best creation of a 1st person narrator's voice. Best non-linear.

I only got into Avatar: TLA a few years ago, so you guys are definitely not alone! Funny story, though: when I was a freshman in college, some of my friends binge-watched A:TLA on netflix. They watched it on a laptop (this was pre-chromecast/firestick), and since I was often in the room, I heard quite a lot of it. I had no clue what was going on in the show and I didn't know what anyone looked like, but I actively liked one character a lot and got annoyed whenever my friends or anyone on the show badmouthed him. When I properly watched A:TLA several years later, I realized that 1) his name was Zuko and he had a backstory and 2) he was still my favorite character. tl;dr ZUKO FTW. I love "that's rough, buddy" so much, and field trips with Zuko are the best field trips other than possibly field trips with Steve Harrington. I liked Mai, and I liked them as a couple. I was annoyed that Zutara was never resolved, though - I didn't really ship it, but they left a lot of threads hanging in a way that felt unsatisfying. I didn't actually want them to end up together, really, I just wanted some resolution rather than "it never happened" hand-waving. Speaking of unpopular opinions, though: I think that LoK is a better show than TLA. There's more depth and ambiguity overall, I love Korra's relationship arc over the last couple seasons and felt like there was way more chemistry there than there ever was between Katara and Aang, and I like the core members of her group much better than the core members of Aang's group overall. I loved Zuko to pieces, but he was a latecomer to Aang's actual group, even if he was in the show. Of the four main members of the group (Aang, Katara, Sokka, and Toph), Sokka was the only one who never annoyed me, and I wanted to wring Aang's neck half the time (partially because airbending and airbenders are just The Worst - words cannot express how much I hated Zaheer in LoK). I had literally zero mixed feelings about Korra or Asami (), I liked Bolin, and unlike a lot people, I (mostly) liked Mako. I still like TLA, but LoK was better, IMO.

I WAS OBSESSED WITH HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON FOR THE LONGEST TIME. (I've only watched the movies, though.) I swear, I'm not even exaggerating, we would keep a copy of the first film in our car, and whenever we went on long car trips, that's what we would watch. Every single time. It's a miracle I haven't grown sick of it tbh, but I think that's a testament to how good it is. I've been in love with the music for forever, haha. I even learned how to play the opening theme on the piano, I was so in love with the music. (John Powell created a masterpiece for the first film.) My two most favorite characters are probably Astrid and Valka. It's honestly probably my main complaint with the second movie, that there wasn't enough Astrid, and towards the end, there wasn't enough Valka either. These two women are so kickass, and Dreamworks doesn't take advantage of that? Smh. I think my favorite scene in How to Train Your Dragon has to be when Hiccup feeds Toothless for the first time, and there's no dialogue, and we only hear the music, and Toothless tries to draw a picture in the ground. It's just such a gorgeous film. Dreamworks will never reach the standard they set with HTTYD again. For some reason, I associate HTTYD with the holidays, so I was super stoked to find this thread in here around this time haha.

In Red Rising Severo is called the main character's "mangy little angel" and honestly it cracks me up every time. He's one of those crude characters you might start out iffy about and then just...you love them. It's great.

So i have recently become apart of the buzzfeed unsolved fandom which has two series: true crime and supernatural (seeing if ghosts and demons are real...their basically the ghostsfacers for those who watch suppernatural). And i love how there is literally no drama and how sweet everyone is. ❤ plus everything is turned into a meme "hey demons its me, ya boi" #shaniac

So I recently started rewatching Teen Wolf and I completely forgot how absolutely adorable Scott and Allison were as a couple. The show may have it's fair share of problems, but man, did it absolutely nail a high school first love. Everything that they do is just so perfect, from their first meeting at the animal clinic all the way to the very end when they were sneaking around without Allison's dad knowing. The fact that they did grow apart and start seeing other people adds to it even more! I love that even with everything supernatural and crazy happening around them, they were still able to keep their relationship so light and happy for as long as they did #scallisonforever

I just finally watched Avatar and Korra for the first time in the last six weeks or so! AHHHH! Okay, I have so many feelings. Someone please talk to me about them. Avatar: Uncle Iroh is the best secondary character of all time, ever, and I love him so much that I get emotional just thinking about how he exists. Zuko is the best main character in both Avatar and Korra. "Zuko Alone" kills me. Zuko's speech to the frog kills me. "Why am I so bad at being good?" kills me. Just... Zuko/Mai foreverrrrr. They are perfect together. They're both so moody (even Zuko after switching sides is still pretty moody)! And that makes them great together. So many amazing Zuko/Mai quotes: "You look so beautiful when you're hating everything." "I don't-hate you too." "Saving the guy who dumped me!" AHHH. I just love them. Katara/No One. Not Zutara. Not Aang. She's wayyyy too good for Aang. She should've held out for someone better. But her and Aang's kids are great at least. Appa is my baby and I love him. Korra: Korrasami forever. Literally, having bisexual women as main characters was the happiest moment of my TV-watching life. I felt so represented. The season 3 villains are so cool! Also, Kuvira. Varrick is such a weirdo, but he adds everything to the show and he brings me so much joy. This cast of characters is phenomenal. Pabu is life. Okay, that's it for now. *goes to rewatch every episode*

Okay, so I have a thing for dark fandoms, so bear with me here Black Sails Jack’s “that's my cute murder kitten” face every time Anne kicks ass in her violent way Idelle and Featherstone’s adorable chill relationship. Just two good people loving each other kindly in the midst of piratey hell. The way Anne melts around Max Hannibal Um, everything is cute at the same time as nothing is??? It’s really hard to explain??? But really, the fandom’s sense of humor is the cutest Cannibalism puns??? I guess Will’s dogs? I don’t actually like dogs, but I suppose they would be the empirically cutest part of the show Buffy the Vampire Slayer Tara and Dawn’s relationship Giles’ holiday costumes Andrew’s friendship with Spike Grey’s Anatomy Any time there are more than two people on a bed Mark Sloan failing to get what he wants Sense8 Someone seeing something new through someone else’s eyes, like Capheus seeing snow for the first time or being on a plane for the first time. Pretty much Capheus. Lito, Hernando, and Daniela supporting each other I mean, anyone supporting anyone?? They are all the cutest sweethearts Everything is cute and there is never any pain or poorly executed mythology arcs

So I've recently read Simon Vs The Homo Sapiens Agenda (I know, big surprise, you had no idea, right?) and the absolute cutest thing has to be how excited the author, Becky Albertalli, gets whenever she sees any fan art or fanfics of her work. She is honestly the fandom's biggest hype man and I live logging onto to Twitter and seeing her reactions to everything.

I'm super into Hamilton atm (yes, i am an aussie) and all the graphics made by fans with quotes from the songs are all sooooooo cute. My favourites are graphics of the quote "Love/Death/Life doesn't discriminate between the sinners and the saints." from 'Wait for It'.
