  6. hell weeks are upon us

If you're wondering what hell weeks are let me simply for you: midterms. Yes, midterms are upon me. And do you know what is terrible at midterms coming up? THEY LITERALLY NEVER END. I'm not even joking, it's literally just like week after week of midterms all the way until December when I have my final for the classes. And I know it sounds like it doesn't make much sense because you have the midterm and then you should be free. Theoretically speaking, yes. But when your profs all decide to have like two or three midterms and you have four courses total in the semester, you end up with like 15 midterms all spanned out throughout the semester. This means that I'm in a constant state of anxiety about my impending doom. Or like, dead inside. Depends on the weather. And do you know what I end up doing instead of studying? I end up on HPFT, or reading fanfiction, and every once in a while, writing fanfiction of my own instead of reviewing my notes or catching up on my readings or doing practice questions. My first exam is on Tuesday so have me in your prayers y'all (or send me a sacrifice either works) because if I keep up on this road of distraction I'm gonna need it.
  7. Do you ever write a fanfic for one fandom and then later realize that the concept and idea for that fic would also apply to another OTP in another fandom and you wanna write it again for that OTP would anyone mind that??????

  8. In other news, I'm very unimpressed with my biology lab partner

  11. The Conqueror's Saga

And as frustrating as some of the things that the characters felt and did made me frustrated to the extreme and made me want to scream (mostly Radu) there was also a lot of appreciation because it added another layer of meaningfullness (that's not even a word apparently, it's underlined in red) and complexity and realism to everything because all of these characters do good and bad, smart and stupid things and it's hard to pinpoint if they're the good guy or the bad guy sometimes because of it. Also I wanted to mention that I really appreciated the light that Islam was shown in, there was no judgement made on it, there wasn't any bias being presented, it was just presented as it was and I really loved that because especially in this day and age you don't see a lot of media that bothers to portray the religion in a positive or at the very least neutral light. And I liked how it was talked about how it affected Radu, how praying made him feel, how being religious was so important to him. I can't put into words properly how much I appreciated that so I'll just leave it at, it was really nice to see.

  15. The Conqueror's Saga

Oh my God I absolutely love this series, like I've been recommending it to literally everyone I know but I'm the only one who's read it out of my group of friends. I honestly love the point of view that Kiersten White has taken with the story making Vlad a woman because you get to see a new aspect to the story, the discrimination and prejudices that Lada has to deal with and overcome because of who she is, the fact that she has to be ten times as good as her fellow Janniseries just to get even a smidgen of the respect that they all have for their fellow man. I love Lada's ruthlessness and the fact that she won't let even her feelings for Mehmed keep her from what she wants. I admire her patriotism in the face of everything that she's endured, she's honestly so strong in so many ways. I also loved seeing the struggles that she faces with being a woman, the inconveniences that come with them and that are so awkward to Lada because of how she's rejected everything that comes with being a woman her entire life. Honestly, I love Radu, and I feel for him and his struggles with being gay at a time like that and like I sincerely hope that he manages to move on from Mehmed and learn to accept the love that Cyprian (?)(I forget his name I'm so sorry) is offering him throughout Now I Rise. Radu deserves someone who will love him back instead of using his affection and loyalty for the good of their empire like Mehmed did. Speaking of Mehmed, I can't believe the way that he used and lied to Radu and the way that he wouldn't help Lada like excuse me good what sir but what are you doing. And to be honest I got so frustrated with Radu because I know you can't help who your heart loves but the fact that Mehmed was using him throughout Now I Rise was so obvious that it drove me crazy that he wouldn't recognize it and use it to get over Mehmed. I love in Now I Rise the conflict that Radu feels when he sees at what cost Mehmed's war comes with, because he's been brought up his entire life believing that Constantinople should have been taken by force and then realizing that all of these people that he's aiding in the destruction of have lives and hopes and dreams just like him and didn't get the luxuries that he did while he was growing up. I don't know but it felt really important in showing that not everything is as black and white as we may have been led to believe or even convinced ourselves into believing you know. But like to keep things short because I could go on and on for a while, I'm pumped to see what happens in the next and I believe last book of the series (unless there's more than 3 books) and how everyone's relationships will be resolved (or not) and what will become of Lada.
