  1. The Cute Things in Your Fandom

I'd like to post this topic for wonderful people at HPFT community at one of the happiest moments in the world. Let's talk about the cute things in your fandoms. (The idea popped when I saw Looneylizzie's StarWars Christmas socks at Gryffindor CR. ) The Golden trio in their first years at Hogwarts, Bowtruckles and Newt, Arrietty, Kiki and BB-8 are all cute, even Bellatrix seems to be cute for me! How about you? What are the cute things for you? Tell us!
  2. Hi! The other day, I heard one of my acquaintances mutter like this, "I liked the HP movies before so many characters died." I can understand her opinion. I wish Sirius were alive till Harry got his job as an Auror. My son told me he wanted Fred to be alive. If you could rewrite the books, how would it like? Tell us!
  3. After listening to the previous president Obama's interview, I happened to find youtube bbc reading Jane Eyre (read in very basic English) and it's the first time for me to read it through. I noticed the very intrinsic theme of Harry Potter or Downton Abbey in that story.

  4. I wish Hermione were here now to urge me to study more. Learning a foreign language is so hard.

  5. Best LGBTQA+ Character Nominations

Character Name: Professor Grubbly-Plank Sexual Orientation/Gender Identity: Lesbian Story/Stories/Series Title: Miss Grubbly Plank Finds Herself Link to Story/Stories/Series: Miss Grubbly (M) Author: FireOpal Reason for Nomination: Though I couldn't leave a review during House Cup activity due to time limited (I asked poppunkpadfoot to do instead), I don't forget the first impression when I read this story. If you nominate a story for Best HPFT LGBTQA, from HP fandom's POV, "the idea that there would be gay unicorns whose horns go leftwards (from Kayla's review) " is very unique and once you read this, you can't forget this mystic fantasy with the unicorns and professor Grubbly-Plank's fieldwork.
  6. Best Original Fiction Nominations

Archive name: Alexis Black Story title: The Wind Chimes Are Calling to Me (poetry) Link to story: The Wind Chimes Are Calling to Me (All Audiences) Reason for Nomination: I could feel soft light, breeze and atmosphere of all seasons like we read haikus from her poetry. I got visual images in my mind and felt like I could listen to the sound by the window. Pleasure for spring visits. Sense for coming rain or the weather change in summer Autumn foliage, various colors, Mother Nature, the sun Cold outside, warm inside in winter The wind chimes carry gentle wind each season.
  7. Oops, I hit 'Ginny Weasley' instead of 'Ginny Potter' at F.R. O. G .S. while nominating Kevin's 'Fitting In'. Please someone fix it, if you could. Thanks in advance. 9_9

  8. Best HP Rare Pair Nominations

Archive Name: Crimson Quill Pairing: Lavender Brown / Parvati Patil Story title: Parisian Scars Link to story: Parisian Scars (M) Reason for nomination : Abbie expressed both Lavender's emotional scar and the look from the outside, which is deeply related to her feeling towards Parvati. I'm glad she set a happy ending after lots of her pains, which is very her style. With visual Indian food, a floral descriptions of Parvati sounds very comforting for readers, too.
  9. Best Family/Friendship Nominations

Characters Involved: Ginny Weasley and Lily Luna Potter Archive Name: TidalDragon Story/Series Title(s): Fitting In Link to story: Fitting In (All Audiences) Reason for nominating: It's always heartbreaking to know or read children's pain as a parent. They live their lives with all their strength every day. I think Ginny in Kevin's story must have felt like that way towards her daughter Lily. I really like the spot, "they both stared out at the overcast sky that currently marred the grassy vista" it's very beautiful and at the same time it indicates Lily's worry. Ginny's advise is quite appropriate as a mother. This story is full of affection, I love it.
  10. Character Name: Sirius Black Mental Illness/Disability: Mental Illness Story/Stories/Series Title: The Department (M) Link to Story/Stories/Series: The Department (M) Author: poppunkpadfoot Reason for Nomination: Reading Kayla's story, I imagined the dark hallway, staircase of Grimmauld Place and his mother's shriek. I felt pity for Sirius who had found that his brother Regulus ended in his mysterious death. (spoiler alert!!! →) Even he saw his brother's ghost there.
  11. Archive Name: TreacleTart Story Title: The Forest (T) Link to story: The Forest (T) Reason for nominating: From Kaitlin's splendid descriptions, I imagined the forest in the story like " Aokigahara" in Japan where not a few people go deeper to try suicide. Each description about the horrible scene Marta (the main character) witnessed in the forest sent me a chill.
  12. Thirded ( Alyssa is genius, Humor Queen! I also like her Voldemort story.)
  13. Archive name: MuggleMaybe Story title: Beyond Repair (T) Link to story: Lily / Petunia (T) Reason for nominating: When I look back this story, I feel sad remembering Lily's deep emotion, attachment to Petunia. Renee expressed how Lily tried doing anything to please her sister and Petunia's complicated feeling towards her sister who lived in a different world (the magical world), her jealous heart and her affection for Lily.
  14. Archive name: Rumpelstiltskin Story Title: When Spring Doesn't Return Link to story: Grace x Karkaroff (T) Reason for nominating: We notice Rumpel separated each person’s POV beautifully on the right and the left. Some of the words are sexually stimulating. The others are horrifying. She tried expressing the ship, romance between Karkaroff and the original female character, Grace, using all seasons. I say their romance "peculiar" because Karkaroff is apparently a Death Eater, Rumpel created the original and unique world in these poems. I like all stanzas inlayed with brilliant descriptions of seasonal phenomena and their emotion. Especially winter parts are very impressive.
  15. Best Minor HP Character Nominations

Character Name: Roxanne Weasley Story/Stories/Series Title:Jigsaw (M) Link to Story/Stories/Series: Jigsaw (M) Author: nott theodore Reason for Nomination (spoiler alert from me!! →): The story is told from the first person POV, Roxanne's mind movement. Through her eyes, you can enjoy her POV about her family , I often smile at Sian's descriptions of her parents, Angelina, George and the other relatives (you can meet Auror Harry Potter later!), friends and mystery.
  16. The Fairy Tale Challenge | Deadline: 1 March 2018

I'm maybe for two (or more...) entries: 1 "Reynardine (werefox)" using werewolf (for Bill/Fleur, I can't decide yet) instead of werefox maybe. 2 "Tam Lin" for Bellatrix Lestrange's granddaughter/ Albus Severus Potter
  17. I could imagine it was common to marry and have children young in J.K Rowling's Wizarding World, though the actor and the actress inside the Mirror of Erised in the film looked older than Lily and James in the book. However, talking of the episode, James had defied Voldemort three times, two of four died in such a short time, I am leaning toward Margaret's opinion. Or we can write James Potter's dreadful life in such a short timeline. I've written about his time just before he was killed by Vol for House Cup activity. As it was written hastily, I dared not submitting the draft. But it might be interesting to edit and submit it after adding the episode how he had defied Vol in detail...
  18. Oh, I like this idea very much. Write the story, please.

  21. Star Wars: The Last Jedi

Me and my son went to watch TLJ today. We enjoyed it very much. 1 We got thrilled at the scenery, Skellig Michael, we remembered Giant's Causway in Northern Ireland. We love Puffin and penguin like birds Porgs. We smiled at the scenes with them and Chew. When we saw Rey and Luke soaked in drizzling rain, we recalled our experience at Giant's Causway in the same weather and could imagine how Rey and Luke felt with their struggling emothional exchanges. So IMO, the stage is perfect as a place where Rey met Luke. The way how she had to face herself, her fear through multi-mirrors reminded me of Harry and the Mirror of Erised. The scene when Rey and Kylo could tell what they saw and felt or even touched was amazing. I think the plot only Rey can change his mind to the light side is good even if the producer implied their future romance. So I got excited expecting Kylo would join the Resistance after he saved Rey and killed Snoke (my son told me Snoke was like Voldemort and Kylo looked like Severus Snape :D). Then we were disappointed soon, though we knew the story should be continued on and on like 'Detective Conan'. 2 Tico sisters were charming and it was sad that Rose's sister had to die like Admistral Holdo sacrificing herself for their people. We remembered 'Space Battleship Yamato'. Before her sacrifice, I thought Poe's operation would end in success and DJ would come back to help Finn and Rose again, but it turned completely into a different result. The process became too messy, but my son seemed to enjoy all chaotic scenes. Me missed the active scenes of X-Wing Fighters and the pilots that we could enjoy at TFA. And the scene when Rey manipulated Falcon was short at the climax. Talking of the lightsaber action scene, I wonder what the series could have been like, if Toshiro Mifune had joined Star Wars movie in the past. Seeing the action scene, I felt like grabbing a bamboo sword again after years. (I looked for the old lightsaber action emoticon, but I couldn't. Can I request it?) I wanna watch real samurai actors or actresses play the action scene. 3 The very last scene was intriguing. I wonder the boy on the Arms Merchant planet might be future Jedi after Rey (?) It's quite interesting they told us the Arms Merchant had been the one of the reasons making the world a good side and the bad side. Oh, I forgot adding that we loved Luke's last fight scene using all his power from the distance.
  22. Kazuo Ishiguro's Works

I couldn't find the thread for professional authors, so I'd like to post here. If someone has already posted the same topic, please move or lock this topic, staffers. I might be late for reading Kazuo Ishiguro's books after he got a Novel-sho (Prize), I finished reading two of his works, 'Never Let Me Go' (M) and 'When We Were Orphans'(M). After reading them, I wondered if I should've read in English, but now I think it was better that I read in Japanese. Their interpretation was beautifully done, I could enjoy his works very well. Very nostalgic, sad and full of friendship and affection. At the same time I felt for main characters, their feeling powerless against their fate and self-pity and effort to take what they were. Have you read his books before? What did you read? How did you feel after reading his works?
  23. Finished reading 'Never Let Me Go'. Well...not fair and painful friendship with bittersweet memory ...after reading this, I felt.
