House Cup Point Updates

Recommended Posts

Alopex

This thread will be used to post house cup point updates.  This will usually be done around the middle of a month, but it may also be done after an event.  We have just wrapped up our House Cup opening event for the 2017-2018 season, MAGIC, and here are the final results--which are also the HC point totals at this moment.

Houses earned points for submitting tasks, getting special MAGIC patterns, and getting the blackout/coverall MAGIC.  We (wrongly) believed the points would be spread more evenly amongst houses with four patterns up for grabs in addition to the blackout over three rounds, but this did not prove to be the case.  Therefore, we decided to award 3rd and 4th place points to the two houses (Gryffindor and Ravenclaw) that did not earn any MAGICs at all, using the 100-75-50-25 point structure we have often used in the past, to recognize their participation and work.  Hufflepuff and Slytherin earned MAGICs and will keep the points they earned for that (in lieu of the 100 and 75 points).  Keep your eyes peeled for the next event!  We'll be having something in the second half of October.

With our snowball fights quickly approaching, we wanted to update the house cup points! (A quick note: due to an error on our spreadsheet, September and October's stories of the month were given 75 points rather than the 25 we'd intended. Hufflepuff and Slytherin's points have been adjusted accordingly - they're both still in first and second place and they've both still gained points since our last update, they're just a bit less ahead than they would have been otherwise. We're very sorry for the error!)

  • Hufflepuff - 787
  • Slytherin - 740
  • Ravenclaw - 528
  • Gryffindor - 379

And here is the points break-down:

  • Awards
    • Gryffindor - 50 points
      • Story of the Month Nov (25)
      • Story of the Month Dec (25)
    • Hufflepuff - 150 points
      • Head Student Dec (75)
    • Ravenclaw - 150 points
      • Head Student Nov (75)
      • Head Student Nov (75)
    • Slytherin - 75 points
      • Head Student Sept (75)
  • Challenges (Hosting and Placement)
    • Gryffindor - 5 points
    • Hufflepuff - 5 points
    • Ravenclaw - 65 points
    • Slytherin - 15 points
  • Events (CLUEDO)
    • Hufflepuff - 150 points

The winter wonderland has come to a close, and it's time to update our points! We're sure you're all very eager to learn how everyone did... so here's a breakdown:

Nine people entered the prefects' writing challenge. We don't have the results of that just yet, but houses have been given five points per entry, which is reflected in the below points tally. :D

For the snowball fight: 1398 reviews were left over the course of this event by 35 reviewers. Whether you were able to leave dozens of reviews or just a handful, you helped make this even incredibly successful, and we hope that you enjoyed yourselves! There will be some individual awards/shoutouts in the month's bulletin, but we will give you the overall view of what happened here. :D

Fight One: Chimera (G/S) vs. Wolpertinger (H/R)

Chimera officially finished their fort on December 3 at 4:41pm GMT, and chose to block next-gen fics and multiply their reviews on war theme fics. In the end, this allowed them to block 27 snowballs and gave them an extra 44.

Wolpertinger officially finished their fort on December 2 at 8:16pm, and chose to block next-gen fics and multiply original fiction. In the end, this allowed them to block 2 snowballs and gave them an extra 89.

In the end, Wolpertinger came out triumphant, with 263 throws to Chimera's 166! Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw each earned 75 points for winning the fight.

Fight Two: Leucrocota (G/H) vs. Wyvern (R/S)

Leucrocota officially finished their fort on December 9 at 6:44am GMT, and chose to block angst fics and multiply their reviews on major character POV fics. In the end, this allowed them to block 28 snowballs and gave them an extra 106.

Wyvern officially finished their fort on December 10 at 8:31pm, and chose to block romance fics and multiply LGBTQA+ fics. In the end, this allowed them to block 37 snowballs and gave them an extra 34.

In the end, Leucrocota came out triumphant, with 333 throws to Wyvern's 83! Gryffindor and Hufflepuff each earned 75 points for winning the fight.

Fight Three: Gorgon (H/S) vs. Griffin (G/R)
