Very late in doing this, but I'm joining too. I was cleaning my apartment last Sunday (I'm moving soon) and I discovered I have about 25 unread books that I've bought over the last 4 years (and also two more books that I bought online and that should be arriving in the mail very soon because I just can't help myself :$ :couch:). So I think I'm gonna aim for 25 books this year:

Read:

1. Norse Mythology - Neil Gaiman

2. One of us is lying - Karen M. McManus

Currently reading:

1. Our Chemical Hearts - Krystal Sutherland

Nix

Putting myself down here. I have a very large unread book # (*cough*167*cough*), it's a little embarrassing. But to be fair, I did clean out a lot of my previously read books that I wasn't really interested in keeping so that I could trade them in for credit to buy new books! And it doesn't help that I work in a bookstore... I have a stack on hold to add to this # soon enough.

At the same time, I'm a super slow reader but I want to get better. Last year I only read 11 books, so this year my goal is to read at least 15 books. Keeping it simple and easy... and if I manage to read more, that's great, too. I was doing really well the first two months of the year but I've been slacking since March so I thought posting here would help.

Books I've currently read so far:

1. Rapture by Kate Lauren
2. Not that Kind of Girl by Lena Dunham
3. Vittorio by Anne Rice
4. Memoirs of a Teenage Amnesiac by Gabrielle Zevin
5. A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L'Engle
6. Alias Grace by Margaret Atwood -- currently reading
7. My Lobotomy by Howard Dully -- currently reading

I have finished a majestic four books and also my dissertation :woot:

I do like that the ABC challenge pushes me out of my comfort zone - eg. now I can sound intellectual when discussing 'The Old Man and the Sea' despite not really enjoying it - but it can be a little dreary. Case in point, X Y Z (which has been on my list for six years) is dragging :/

But hey, I then got to see Christopher Eccleston in Macbeth last weekend!!! And also would HIGHLY recommend Sally Nicholls' "Things A Bright Girl Can Do", about the women's suffrage movement in the UK!

ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ=4/26

A- A Court of Mist and Fury (Sarah J Maas)

B- Bone Swans (C.S.E. Cooney)/ The Broken Bridge (Phillip Pullman) / The Big Sleep (Raymond Chandler)

C- A Court of Wings and Ruin (Sarah J Maas) / Climbing Free (Lynn Hill) / Caraval (Stephanie Garber)

D- Den of Shadows (Christopher Byford) / Death’s Mistress (Terry Goodkind) / Dreams of Shreds and Tatters (Amanda Downum)

E- The Exact Opposite of Okay (Laura Steven)

F-

G- The Gardener’s Book (Diana Craig)

H- Heist Society (Ally Carter) / The Hate U Give (Angie Thomas)

I- *The Inimitable Jeeves (P.G. Wodehouse)

J- Jeeves in the Offing (P.G. Wodehouse)

K- The Kaufmann Mercantile Guide: How to Split Wood, Shuck an Oyster, and Master Other Simple Pleasures (Sebastian Kaufmann)

L- To the Lighthouse (Virginia Woolf)

M- Macbeth (William Shakespeare)/ Molly’s Game (Molly Bloom) / Magnus Chase and the Sword of Summer (Rick Riordan)

N- North and South (Elizabeth Gaskell) / Northanger Abbey (Jane Austen)

O- The Ocean at the End of the Lane (Neil Gaiman) / Orlando (Virginia Woolf)

P- The Push (Tommy Caldwell)

Q- *A Quiet Life in the Country (T.E. Kinsey)

R- Reasons to Stay Alive (Matt Haig)

S- The Sin Eater’s Daughter (Melinda Salisbury)

T- Things a Bright Girl Can Do (Sally Nicholls)/ Tower of Dawn (Sarah J Maas)

U- The Undomestic Goddess (Sophie Kinsella)

V- Very Good, Jeeves! (P.G. Wodehouse)

W- Where’d You Go, Bernadette (Maria Semple) / Witchborn (Nicholas Bowling)

X- *X Y Z (Anna Katherine Green)

Y-The Young Elites (Marie Lu) / Yes Please (Amy Poehler)

Z- Zorro (Isabel Allende)

4. Alice - by Christina Henry

Currently Reading:

2. The Tenant of Wildfell Hall - Anne Brönte (I've actually got into it this time I'm really surprised. The intro is a little dull but once you get past that it's very 'upper class' dramatic 😂 the drama that goes on is so petty it's hilarious)
