Hello Kristin, dear!

THERE ARE NO WORDS FOR MY LOVE FOR KORRASAMI, AHHHH!

Honestly, I don't know why I haven't read enough Avatar and/or Korra fanfiction. This story just reminded me why I really, really need to. This was so beautifully written and it made me so happy.

You did such a fantastic job capturing both Korra and Asami's characters. I loved the bright, energetic Korra--she reminded me of the more carefree Korra from early seasons, and I completely believe that Asami could help her heal and get back to that point (as she does a lot in the last season!). And Asami. Ahhhh, so wonderful! Honestly, both of them were great. And you showed their interactions and relationship so well. This could have been canon, it was so in-universe.

You captured the world of Avatar perfectly, and I could see and feel all the colors and sounds and moments in this story. That's not often something I say. As you probably saw in a recent HYH "Writing Tips,"  I think it's easy for authors to forget about sensory details, but you absolutely didn't here.

Honestly, I just loved this. It was so fluffy and sweet and wonderful. I just want to cuddle this story. You rock.

Best,
Emily

Author's Response:

Omg! Hi Emily, and thank you so much for this surprise review! <3

IKR THEY ARE JUST PERFECTTTT #otp

Thank you so much! This was the first fanfic I’ve written for anything aside from HP – and I’d never done anything based on a television series and so I did wonder how well I’d be able to capture the feeling of the show in writing. So it’s absolutely wonderful to hear that it could have been canon, thank you! I’m so thrilled that you thought the characters were portrayed well, too!

It’s so wonderful to hear that you liked the sensory details in this and that it conveyed the Avatar world well. Thanks so much!

I’m so glad you loved this gigantic fluff-fest!  Thank you for reading and for this lovely review! <3

HERE FOR THE TAG. <3

Okay so I have never watched the Legend of Korra, and I don't think I'll end up watching in the future. Though not for lack of wanting! I want to witness Korra and Asami with my own eyes instead of just reading fanfiction about them, but I've been heavily warned by a friend of mine about some weird romantic love triangle nonsense, so I think I'm going to just stick to pretending that Korra and Asami (even though I really don't know their characters) were the only ones being all romantic in the show.

Anyway, now that my weird random tangent up there is over, I shall get started on your wonderful, wonderful story. Like I said, I have no concept of their personalities aside from things I've picked up from little one-shots here and there, and so I can't really comment on how true the characterization is, but let me just say that I absolutely adore the characterization you've given them here. Like, they're so CUTE and FLUFFY and CLEARLY IN LOVE WITH EACH OTHER, and also they're both freaking hilarious, and I can't get enough of their banter. They're both so excited to explore and see new worlds, and to play around, and to just have a lot of fun, and I think that makes them so much fun to read.

(Like, when Korra was complaining about Asami's cold feet? Adorable. My heart grew three sizes.)

I'm also in love with the style you wrote this in. (Please write fluff more often, if this is what your fluff looks like, because it's honestly such a pleasure to read, and makes me so happy to look at.) Especially with all the absolutely beautiful descriptions of nature that you gave! I loved reading about the sunset, and the atmosphere of the world around them, and how they just sat there and soaked it all in. I'm so envious of them. (Which reminds me, I need to visit a national park, so that I can feel the same awe and wonder as Korra and Asami.)

Your descriptions are goals, I aspire to write them like you do one day. <3

ALSO, BECAUSE I FEEL I HAVEN'T EXPRESSED THIS ENOUGH, KORRA AND ASAMI ARE SO CUTE I COULD DIE HAPPY. LIKE MY HANDS WERE FLAILING AND I WAS JUST EMITTING RAINBOWS FROM MY SOUL BECAUSE THEY WERE SO WONDERFUL TO READ.

I really, really love this omg. <3

Author's Response:

Korra and Asami are amazing and are definitely in the running for my OTP of all OTPs. There is indeed some love triangle nonsense in the first two seasons, but the last two definitely make up for it, in my opinion. And there's a lot of other stuff going on besides the love triangle anyway. Haha, I like that you chose this story despite not being familiar with the show XD

Anyway, thank you so much! I'm so glad you like the characterization and that the characters are fun to read. <3

Omg hahah writing fluff was sooo difficult tbh XD I am thrilled that you liked the style - and that the sheer fluffiness of it was enjoyable! Hehehe, I think most national parks look a bit less weird than the Avatar-verse spirit world is shown here, you're not likely to float in mist and be rescued by hybrid dragon/bird spirits when you fall off cliffs, but if this does happen to you at a national park please let me know. XD Eep, and thank you so much about the descriptions!! I'm so glad you enjoyed them!

I AM SO PLEASED TO HEAR THIS STORY TURNED YOU INTO A FLAILING LASER OF RAINBOW. This is one of the best compliments I have ever received. :P

Thank you so much for reading and for this wonderful review! ♥♥♥♥

Kristinnnn, how have I not read this?!?!?!

So I adore Korrasami. It is one of my favorite ships, and I love it, and there was not enough of it so I constantly need more it.

And you effing nailed this.

There are so many little details that you capture and weave together so that my only complaint is really that this isn’t an episode, because IT NEEDS TO BE. Also, why can’t I have a hot girlfriend who wants to go on vacation to the spirit world with me, this is the worst kind of oppression.

The dynamic between Korra and Asami is so, so perfect. I loved seeing the situation from both of their perspectives - the uncertainty, the excitement, the attraction, and just an overwhelming amount of affection. They tease each other a little, but what really shines through is just the warmth between them. There’s so, so much chemistry, and you captured it.

ALSO KORRA JUMPED OFF AFTER HER WHAT MORE IS THERE TO SAY I LOVE IT.

I also really love the way you captured a lot of Korra’s character development throughout the series in subtle ways and showed that Asami was really always paying attention. I’m not sure that book one Korra would have chosen water as her one element - she didn’t fall back on water the way Aang fell back on air. Given her recovery following the fight with Zaheer, though, I think that that changed, and I was really glad to see the acknowledgment and that Asami was the one to pull that thread out.

ASAMI IS ALWAYS THE ONE TO PULL ALL THREADS ABOUT KORRA OUT THOUGH AMIRITE.

I adored this so much. So much.

Author's Response:

Branwen omg thank you this review was such a wonderful surprise!

I'm so pleased to hear that you liked this! :D Korrasami is one of my OTP's as well. And your complaint is perfectly valid, I wish that there was an episode of just Korrasami fluff tooooo.

Thank you so much, it's wonderful to hear that you think I wrote the dynamic between them well and that it captures the chemistry!

Omg I love your analysis of Korra's character throughout the series and I  totally agree! And yes, of course it would be Asami to pull that thread (/all threads) out ♥

I'm so glad you enjoyed this story! Thanks so much for reading and for your absolutely lovely review <3 <3

*Original review from AO3*

Omg Kristin I LOVED this!! It was so sweet and wonderful and amazing and you wrote it for me and I love you for it!!

I really loved the spirit world. The way you described it I was able to picture everything so clearly and it was just like it should be. Really good job there.

Korra and Asami were so completely in character. Like totally perfect! It read like it could have been an extension of the finale.

The uncertainty of both girls was adorable and so sweet. The whole time I was reading I just kept thinking, "Okay, now kiss. Ooohkaaay... now kiss! Please KISS!!" And then they did and yay!!!

They are just the best couple ever in the history of ever and you did the best job at writing them and I'm so happy with this!

Kristin, seriously thank you so much! *squishes* I can't even tell you how much this means to me. Thank you, thank you, thank you!! <33

:D :D :D Yay, thank you! I'm so glad you liked it! Haha, tbh I was so stressing out as I scrambled to write this between grad school applications and I also had no idea how to write fluff. But I was really excited to write this for you. And I now have such respect for anyone who can write fluff easily. So thank you, this is really wonderful to hear :D

Thank you, I'm glad you loved the spirit world and that you were able to picture it so clearly. And that you liked the portrayal of Korra and Asami! That means a lot to me. As you probably know this was my first successful attempt branching out into non-Harry Potter fanfic, and I always wonder if I've got the characters and the mood right when I write something totally new, so THANK YOU, I'm so happy to hear that this read like it could be part of the finale. :D

If you think I took forever to get the characters together in this you should see my novel XD But yeah, I thought a little uncertainty made sense for them, after all they probably didn't take the time to figure out where they stood in terms of a relationship while they were busy saving the world, so they kind of had to figure that out here.

They are the best couple. Ngl, to write this in the proper setting and mood I definitely rewatched the end of the finale like 8 times. I regret nothing.

You're very welcome :) Thank you for this lovely comment! I'm SO glad you liked the story, and I hope you had a wonderful birthday! <3 *squishes*
