Oh hey, you posted this on my birthday! Happy late birthday present to me!
My first reaction is surprise that Lavender isn’t with Parvati, and relief that she’s alive. I can deal with this compromise.
I hope it’s okay that I’m reading this without having read Her Love first - I couldn’t find it on the archives!
The first half of the story is a lot of Juno’s internal monologue, and really does a thorough job of describing her her state and her perception of Lavender’s, but it was a bit much of telling instead of showing. I really enjoyed when the story shifted to describing the scene of the date, as I was able to feel right there with these characters.
Wow, Lavender came a long way! I’m super happy for her. I am very curious about what exactly changed to bring this about. From what we know, she was in a very dark place for a long time, and then this night she made the decision to act differently. She almost seems like she’s starting fresh with a different attitude, which is huge and no easy adjustment. I’m very curious what changed to get her to that point.
I'm honestly so sorry that I took so long with this review response, it's been a hot minute since I've actually looked at any reviews.
It's been so long since I've written this one-shot that to be perfectly honest with you, I barely remember what I wrote and what happened, but I do know that it was the other half to a one-shot written by the person I was paired up with. It's totally okay to read this without having read Her Love First, to my knowledge (or what's left of it) the two can be read separately. I think the author of Her Love First is still on HPFF and maybe didn't hear that everyone moved to a different archive so I don't know what happened.
Thank you so much for stopping by with a review!
