So I love this and I think my favourite thing about it is that it's so raw and it is because it's so honest. It's all the feelings that you push deep down inside of you because those feelings shouldn't come out but you've been brave and given them a voice and it's so beautifully expressed and it makes this piece come alive.
I really felt for Victorie here, it's a brave couple to use for this story as I think there is a romanticism about them but you break up this trope and it's so much more powerful for that. I can't think how hard it must be to see the person you imagined your life with then they are living it with someone else but this piece shares something personal so suddenly I feel that tiny bit of understanding. It makes this a really engaging piece to read and your characterisation Victorie's thought process is amazing. Thank you for sharing this with us.

So this piece is a companion to a larger story called Fracture. It's a series of microfiction about Victoire and Teddy's relationship. To be brutally honest, both Fracture and this piece were based on my own personal experience with divorce. My ex-husband ended up getting his next partner pregnant within two months of our separation. I channeled a lot of that pain and frustration into Victoire here.
I'm glad that you felt like it resonated.
