I don't think I've actually ever written Hagrid - he's one of those characters I find even more intimidating than the Golden Trio, but I loved the way that you captured his character here. This was such a cute story to read, and really felt like it could be a moment taken from the books, I could picture it so clearly.
I loved seeing Albus being friends with Hagrid, the same way that his dad had been. After everything Hagrid and Harry went through together, it's so sweet to see that friendship enduring in the next generation. Albus's genuine interest in all of Hagrid's magical creatures must be so exciting for him, too - since we know that Hagrid doesn't listen to people who try and discourage him from putting dangerous creatures into the forest. I think I'd probably take Scorpius's more reserved view on this one, though!
Hearing Hagrid talk so proudly about all the different creatures that he's introduced to the forest in his time as gamekeeper there is kind of adorable - he really hasn't changed at all, and his fascination for those creatures is still as strong as ever - but I did wonder what most biologists and conservationists would think of him just experimenting with the natural habitat :P
The ending made me laugh - poor Neville, losing his precious plants, and then Hagrid standing there and looking sheepish and embarrassed. Will the man ever learn? :P
Omg this is so adorably cute! We see a lot of Hagrid being up to these kinds of antics in the books, but there is something incredibly charming about him in next generation, being so preciously unchanged. And very in character!
Hagrid never learns, and while that may be frustrating for some, it definitely makes me feel affectionately sentimental about him here.
I also think it’s so precious how interested Albus is in Hagrid’s creatures. That must mean a lot to him, because of his close relationship with Harry. But this is even better, because while Harry & co liked Hagrid, they merely tolerated his creatures. And lol, Scorpius’ attitude is such a callback to that!
Oh nooo don’t upset Professor Longbottom! =( I generally imagine him as a pretty chill professor, so seeing him worked up makes me want to protect him and his plants.
Everyone here is so perfectly in character, and I adore it! Even though this story is short and the individual characters don’t get a lot of page time, you did a great job of making them all feel very real. II usually find Hagrid intimidating to capture well, but I think you did an excellent job.
