Hi Jill! <3
I thought I’d come by with another review for you and shower you with more love! (And also to satisfy my cravings for more of your beautiful, beautiful Merlin fics, so here I am haha.)
Immediately, I could tell that this story is different, because it is only focused on Arthur. And it’s short but beautiful, and each scene was equally important in building the foundation of the character we all know and love today. I thought you picked the best scenes in showcasing who Arthur is, and from all of them I could easily piece together the details of Arthur’s life. I didn’t realize it was possible to love and cherish Arthur Pendragon even more than I already did, but it is apparently very possible, haha.
Each scene broke my heart (which is now lying in a shattered pile on the floor). From the very first scene when Arthur, as a little boy, wishes to play with friends; to when he sits before the portrait of his mother, just staring at her and missing her presence; to when he’s hauled away from Gaius’s comforting side; to when he becomes irrationally offended by what “that mouthy peasant” calls him... I felt so many things. You’re amazing at writing scenes like these, Jill, and I hope you keep doing it.
I love this. I love this so much. Thank you for writing this! <3
