Aw, Leo, this is so wonderful! I adore stories about minor characters, particularly characters that aren’t that likeable :P and Stan Shunpike totally fits the bill. As in, I don’t think I’ve ever thought about him at all as a character, and certainly never have found a fic about him, and I just love the way you wrote the friendship between him and Ernie. This made me appreciate Ernie a lot, and I think he can be a very overlooked character, but here you show a side to him that’s totally not obvious in the books. I felt so badly for him as he’s not able to do anything to help Stan, but he does the best he can and encourages him and is basically a really good friend. And as for Stan, poor guy, just in the wrong place at the wrong time and Azkaban is already doing a number on him. I hope that the knowledge that Ernie believes in him is enough to get him through the remaining months he has there :(

This sounded like such an original idea I just couldn't let it pass me! I completely forget about Stan Shunpike (sorry Stan!) and I may have just quickly checked on his situation via Google :P It's been a while since I've read the books, oops. I'm so glad that Ernie believes in Stan, as I'm sure many of his close friends would have. It's so sweet that Ernie went to visit, even though they just work together. It shows how sweet and caring Ernie is. I feel so sorry for Stan though. Azkaban is horrible on a good day, but during the Second Wizarding War it would have been extra awful. I do want to shake him sometimes though, for being so stupid :P I absolutely love how Ernie refuses to let Stan change. And it's true -Stan made a mistake and he has to learn from it, instead of letting it affect him so much that he changes. It's a great message, and a great story!
