Oh. My. Gosh. Chelts.
First of all, thank you so much for entering my Dramione Challenge on the forums. I'm so happy to be here to review your entry, and I'm so excited to tell you my thoughts!
I have to start by saying that this is so incredibly original! I've never read an old-age Dramione (maybe an old-age Any Pairing, actually!), and I wasn't sure how I would like it. But I'm happy to report that I loved this! It reminded me a little bit of the greater story in the The Notebook (the parts that aren't a flashback), but the way you wrote it was totally you. The concept is fresh, and you don't shy away from the difficulties of growing old. The setting seemed so clear, and your use of language was perfect for the story you were telling.
Hermione and Draco's characterization was lovely. You should be so proud of your ability to capture their personalities while still showing the growth they've been through in their long lives. The voice you use for Draco's thoughts throughout the story is perfect. I could hear him, and I was so surprised and delighted by that.
The evolution of their relationship throughout this story was perfect. You told a love story centered on a very specific setting and time in your characters' lives, and that love story seemed so authentic. It was so well informed by the other authorial choices you made, and I'm so impressed. I fell in love with the potential for their love.
Wonderful job all around. You nailed this pairing, and I'm so happy you entered my challenge!
