Lexi! Here for RvG!

I've been in such a poetic mood lately: reading poetry, writing poetry, and now... reviewing poetry!

I know that I've read this before... but I must say that I love this even more now that I've read it a second time--and with it formatted onto the archives (I know that this is something that's been a bit of a bother for you, so I must mention that the formatting in this piece is on point and really effective!)

The beginning of the poem is confrontational, which in and of itself is controversial due to that very nature of the poem. As a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, the narrator is no stranger to assumptions and prejudice and having to come out time and time again. For someone who is a member of an historically marginalized group. this confrontational attitude is what makes the whole beginning of the poem controversial. The narrator is taking a stand against the heteronormative hemogony. And that is not only brave by a necessity.

The ending of the poem, while confrontational, is assertive and oozes confidence and dignity. After rejecting labels given to the narrator, they state their identity as if a creed, THIS is what they stand for. And it's beautiful and full of pride and absolutely wonderful.

The confrontation and the ending confidence and pride is what really makes this piece jump off the page. The emotions in this poem are what makes it so effective, and I'm left thinking about the poem after reading it.

So well done, Lexi! Great work!
