Popular Post down-in-flames
House Cup Opener: The Welcome Feast (+ Final Points Tally!) Huh. I guess the headmasters put me in charge of making the welcome speech this year? That’s… new. Ahem. Your prefects have been monitoring your behavior on the Hogwarts Express this year, and have decided to award points accordingly. Below, you will see a full breakdown of points awarded, as well as some awards for particularly stellar moments of the House Cup and a long-awaited (by some, at least) explanation of sources for those dastardly prefect facts. Interhouse Camaraderie Challenge Every house completed all 10 tasks and all 10 bonus slots, meaning that every house received the full 100 points for this event. Event Awards: Best Review - @nott theodore of Gryffindor for her review on @Stella Blue’s To Dwell on Dreams Judge’s Comment: “Sian’s reviews are always incredible and a joy to get.” Best Graphic - @starbuck of Slytherin for her banner for @Stella Blue Judge’s Comment: “i am 5000% obsessed with kris' banner (IT'S SO SPARKLY)” Most Unique Gift - @StarFeather of Ravenclaw for his fan art Judge’s Comment: “Fan art is such a lovely idea and I loved the drawing Kenny did for me” Kindest Profile Comment - @adorably cute of Gryffindor for her post to @Stella Blue Judge’s Comment: “The broccoli one is my vote for kindest profile comment, aaaaaaah.” Ultimate Hangman All four houses rescued at least one innocent man (or woman) from hanging, but only one house completely dominated the competition. Coming in first place, with 112 points, was… Slytherin! Gryffindor followed with 42 points, Hufflepuff with 35 points, and Ravenclaw with 14. Event Awards: Hangman Master - @starbuck of Slytherin Judge's Comment: "Can we just put Kris in a box for the next week? She's too good at ALL OF THIS" Best Display of Sportsmanship - Gryffindor Judge's Comment: "Gryffindor's attitude is still just awesome" Around the Wizarding World Trivia Thanks to the wide variety of questions, we’ve all got quite a bit more knowledge about both Harry Potter and other forms of magic all around the world. Gryffindor took first place for this event, receiving a total of 88 points. Slytherin followed close behind in second, with 72 points, with Hufflepuff receiving 64 points and Ravenclaw receiving 24. Event Awards: Best Comeback - Hufflepuff Judge's Comment: "Na na na na na na na na na na BatSam!!" Name That Prefect Every house guessed all 14 prefect facts correctly, so all houses receive the full 112 points for this event. If you were wondering where these facts could’ve been found, here’s a brief rundown. @facingthenorthwind - Both of my facts could be found on my +non-hp archive account which you can find via my sig. I'm the only person who has written fic for Pacific Rim, which is where "We're cancelling the apocalypse" comes from (had I known that I'd already suggested that as the tagline for the archive category, I would've picked "Where would you rather die? Here, or in a jaeger?" but hindsight is 20/20 and all that). I have also written about eleventy billion fics for Zombies, Run! which is..... a running app. There's no way to know I used to run the archive for it, but I figured once you got to ZR it would seem pretty logical to assume. @MadiMalfoy - My facts were relatively available on the forums. I posted in the Fanfiction Authors Anonymous thread and talked about having two siblings the same age as me, and I've chatted with many a member about being a triplet on Twitter and such. My second fact easily comes from my post in the Tortall Universe thread because I just got back into reading Tamora Pierce’s books + I squealed about it with Renacerá. @Nix - One of my facts may have been easier to find than the other. The quote is from The Handmaid's Tale, which I mention being one of my favorite books in a Spotlight blog here+. I also mentioned that I am currently re-reading the book in the Reading Challenge 2018 thread. Plus, Eva comments here+ on my love of the book. And not to mention, I have a much more obvious Handmaid's Tale quote as my twitter header. The Aunt Marge fact, which I think was harder for people to find, was from a post I made on twitter, link here+ [M], in response to the actual birthday match up that was originally posted by Shaza. @Rumpelstiltskin - LotR Thranduil Quote -- as deduced from my profile, my current signature, previous signatures, posts in the "Other Fandoms" threads, etc. Saved over $800 at Kohl's +here on twitter. @ShadowRose - i win the award for Resident Asshole™ because none of my facts were actually directly findable. i tweet about vaguely athletic things a lot (see exhibits +a , +b , and +c, rated m because i'm a swearing mess on twitter), so that one kinda lends itself to me being on a sports team in university. i also stand by my use of non-american terminology on that one, because i was on a uk rowing team - so like, it works. as for the james baldwin quote, that one’s a bit of rabbit hole. i’ve posted my favourite book in the +book recommendations thread, and there’s a chapter of that book with that quote in it. you can’t find that though, unless you google quotes from that book - a reverse search won’t tell you that. most of y’all just picked it based on my obama gifs, which still kinda makes sense. @Sleepingbagonthesofa - For my first fact- I've mentioned I work in theatre in a few places, specifically spoken about preforming in a different Shakespeare play +Here and I might have tweeted about actually playing a witch in Macbeth +Here (Rated M because it's on my twitter...). As for the Spice Kids, this one wasn't that obvious until the start of September. You could have made an educated guess but I decided to be nice and posted about the Spice Girls in Earworm less than a week before the opener started (You have Emma to thank for that!). @Slytherinchica08 - Both of Erica’s facts were easily findable on the forums and archives. She’s written a number of Dramione fics, and has posted on the forums (+here) about writing a TATBILB AU. Event Awards: Guessing Correctly on the First Try - Ravenclaw Judge’s Comment: “That’s just amazing… such a Claw thing too.” Most Detailed (Yet Incorrect) Theory Behind a Prefect Fact - @Chemical_Pixie of Gryffindor Judge’s Comment: “that IS a work of art, oh my god.” Final Points Tally This brings us to the conclusion of our House Cup opener. It wouldn't be a Hogwarts event without some last-minute bonus points, so each event award was worth an additional 10 points. The point standings for this event are as follows: In fourth place, with a total of 270 points… Ravenclaw! In third place, with a total of 321 points… Hufflepuff! In second place with a total of 382 points… Gryffindor! And that brings us to the winner of the House Cup opener. With a total of 416 points, first place goes to… Slytherin! Your prefects were so impressed with your hard work and camaraderie throughout the entire event, and we hope you had lots of fun on the Hogwarts Express! Sincerely, The HPFT Prefect Team *All awards made by Rumpels*

Ineke
Thank you all for hosting this! I've mostly been involved with the guess game (which made me like furiously go SPICE GIRLS CANNOT BE DENI BECAUSE OF AGE D< until i found the wannabe post and went: ...well maybe... she seems like the only person with like a link), but it was all very fun to read along and follow and it's a shame I could've have done more because my NYC trip interferred. Thank you all! It was a blast!
