It has taken me an inexcusable amount of time to release the winners, and I'm so sorry. My moving and internet situation has taken way longer to sort than I had originally thought it would. I will get to everyone's reviews, and if the winners would like to PM me the stories they wish to have their prize reviews on, I would very much appreciate it. Congratulations to all the winners, and thank you to all the amazing participants. I had so much fun hosting this challenge and reading everyone's entries.

Challenge Title: TreacleTart's Fanfic Favorite Challenge

Challenge Creator: TreacleTart

Challenge Description: Write a fanfiction of your favorite fanfiction piece on HPFT.

Fandoms Included: Anything currently listed on HPFT

Challenge Winners: I would like to stress that all of the entries I received were excellent and that it was a very difficult decision to pick places. Honestly, I went back and forth deciding things for quite a while, which is partially why it took me so long to post the results.

First Place: Hermione Returns by @potionspartner

4e1ATxb.png

This fic is based upon the universe of Saving Severus Snape by MegGonagall, which is one of the most iconic time travel fics in the Harry Potter fandom. I have to admit that I was a bit nervous to see the results, but honestly, this missing moment fits perfectly into the story. The writing is flawless, the characterization excellent, and it really follows the arc created in the original fic. (In addition to the award graphic, you've won 6 additional reviews!)

Second Place: Tell My Heart To Lie by @Chemical_Pixie

lAzLbNv.png

This fic is based upon the universe created in the story Yaxley by something wicked and features a deep look into Cassiel Yaxley's relationship with thestrals. The characterization of Cassie really stood out as true to the original and the plot was very engaging. (In addition to the award graphic, you've won 4 additional reviews!)

Third Place: Like Breadcrumbs by @Rumpelstiltskin

UzAVZBb.png

This fic is based on Love, Not War by RoxiMalfoy and focuses on Saleena Blackwell and her feelings towards Sirius Black. I thought it really captured some very difficult emotions really well and fits right into the world created in the original universe. (In addition to the award graphic, you've won 2 additional reviews.)

Honorable Mention: Attack On The Death Eaters (M)  by @Tanda (chapters 6&7)

lfkwQFU.png

This fic went a bit of a different route focusing less on the plot of Detox by Cambangst and more on the characterization and the relationship between those characters. It shows a Draco seeking redemption, a reluctant Professor McGonagall, and an empathetic Astoria. (In addition to the award graphic, you've won 1 additional review)

And finally....A special award for the authors who graciously allowed their works to be fanfic'd: @MegGonagall @something wicked @RoxiMalfoy @CambAngst. Thank you for participating!

4ggqIWa.png

For the winners, please DM me which stories you'd like your reviews on and I will get to them throughout the month. If you choose to post your award graphic, please credit the lovely and talented @galadriel.

A quick note to all members: going forward, please include a list of participants when you post the challenge results. It will make it easier for us to ensure every entry is accounted for while awarding house points. ^_^ You don't have to link each participant's entry - just a mention is fine.

Challenge Title: The Shaking Up Shakespeare Challenge

Challenge Creator: nott theodore

Challenge Description: Write a story inspired by Shakespeare - sonnets, quotes and plays were all used!

Fandoms included: Harry Potter and original fiction.

Challenge entries: I got six wonderful entries for this challenge, and I think that they all deserve a mention!

home is an abstract noun, chapter 1 by @crestwood

Inspired by Shakespeare's Sonnet 55, this chapter captured Demelza Robins and an OC as they face the tragedy of war and dream of ways to live beyond it.

Yet They Speak by @Chemical_Pixie

Using a variety of sonnets and quotes from various Shakespeare plays, this series of drabbles follows the stories of four women as they struggle to find their voice.

the quintessence of dust. by @Aphoride

This story allows us a glimpse into Barty Crouch Jr.'s fragile mental state at the end of the first wizarding war, taking Hamlet as inspiration.

Fortune and Glory by @northbound24

The beginning of a novel inspired by this challenge, this story focuses on Jimmy Teague, an OC, and his interactions with the Dumbledores, Grindelwald, and some mysterious magical threats.

Confession by @Noelle Zingarella

In an unusual spin on the wizarding world, a Hamlet quote inspires this story which follows a Muggle priest encountering magic for the first time, and realising that there's much more to the world than he previously realised.

The Border between Utopia and Dystopia by @Tanda

This one-shot uses a Macbeth quote to explore the heartbreaking existence of Nagini, who struggles to find peace in a world where nothing is really as it seems.

I just wanted to say I loved all the entries - they were all so original and interesting and I loved getting the chance to see Shakespeare inspiring your stories!  If you're looking for something unique to read, definitely try all of these challenge entries!

But without further ado, we have the...

Challenge winners:

In third place is home is an abstract noun, chapter 1 by @crestwood

Joey incorporated the sense of Sonnet 55 beautifully in this piece, taking the ideas and paying homage to them and yet finding a way to make the words his own.  This is a really poignant portrayal of young love in the midst of war, and I can't wait to read more about these characters.

You win two reviews and a link to your story in my signature for a month.

In second place is the quintessence of dust. by @Aphoride

Laura captures Barty's mental state brilliantly in this story, echoing Hamlet's descent into madness with stunning and haunting imagery and heartbreaking emotion.  It's a really unique piece featuring a rare pairing, and it'll make you think differently about some of the characters you were sure you hated.

You win four reviews and a link to your story in my signature for a month.

In first place is Yet They Speak by @Chemical_Pixie

This story really blew me away.  Abby used a variety of sonnets and quotes from different plays, using each very creatively to inspire a chapter of her story.  Focusing on Minerva, Dorcas, Poppy and Pomona, this story captures the pressures that women face every day, their defiance, and the importance of friendship and standing together.

You win six reviews and a link to your story in my signature for a month.

Thank you so much to everyone who entered - I'm so glad that this challenge inspired you to write such wonderful pieces!  Winners, please contact me to let me know what you'd like reviewing ^_^

HEAR YE, HEAR YE, AN ANNOUNCEMENT ABOUT AMAZING WRITING!

If you have ever craved reading a story that contains these seven things:

  1. A meeting
  2. Something broken
  3. Unusual weather
  4. Celery
  5. The word defenestration
  6. An animal
  7. The following sentence: There was only one other option.

Then look no further than this post - the results of the Open-Ended Elements Challenge.

I had three wonderful entries into this challenge, and it was very difficult to pick between them because they were so different and all  three of them were fantastic. Here are the final results!
