She never attended Hogwarts because her adopted family traveled a lot since her dad restores and sells magical artifacts and her mother is a magical photographer.
Catherine Xavier-Lehnsherr thought that she was a rather mature, sensible girl. She never argued with her parents over her curfew. She saved up her birthday money to buy herself a gaming laptop. She even didn’t get goaded into a fight by William Stryker, Westchester Prep’s biggest asshole, when he said that girls were stupid.
And then she developed a crush on the wrong person: one of her best friends.

This is fairly annoying when your friends' primary motivations for hunting you down seems to be to pretend that Everything's Fine Without Him, Really, ruin your perfectly-sweet, perfectly-quiet happiness with a sudden onset of Relationship Crisis, and to sidle you into playing Therapist when your only qualifications for the role are that you were once (sort of; it's a long story) a God and/or have previously given some Exciting News to a random virgin woman and some shepherds, neither of which are particularly helpful.
Beelzebub is Mildly Furious, Gabriel is Quietly Amused: together they're, well, sort of just... Meh about it all?

With everything in life, there is a season. And they are always changing.
Maria Wynstone is mostly content with a quiet life at her family's country estate, but as the daughter of a gentleman farmer, she knows that a few bad seasons can make all the difference to one's circumstances. And Maria has had her fair share of bad seasons in Town, to make her never wish to quit there again.
Arthur Colbourne does not mind the law per se, but an embarrassing bumble in court rattles his confidence to the point where he questions all he's ever worked for.
