Aww! Alida and Regulus, being flirty and relaxed and playfully teasing and at ease with each other! <3 That's all I've always wanted for them, and seeing it here fills me with joy! Are they going to get something close to this in the main novel? *pleading eyes* But I guess I'll be happy with this for now! <3
Anyway, I just love the image you picture here! It's the perfect atmosphere for the prompt, and your descriptions are always lovely! And, oh my! He pulls the book from between them, wrapping both arms around her. / "You're my hobby." How sweet is that? And then the kiss! It's just too adorable! <3 <3 <3

This prompt seems so important for them especially, because of the fact that in by blood everything is happening because of responsibility, and that's why they're so miserable. They're not free. But here they are, it's the basis of this entire AU. So like... them sneaking away from a Black family function to just be on their own, AND I love that they're doing the thing they claimed they were sneaking out to avoid (dancing) -- because really, it turns out, things like that can be perfectly wonderful, as long as you're doing them on your own terms!

And I just love when you write Regulus. The shyness, the reserve, the guilt, the panic, the way he wants so desperately to connect but is too scared to try it - and then Alida is there to help him. <3 <3 <3
I feel like I haven't said enough how incredible it is that you've built so much of a world and such complex characters and relationship inside such short chapters. I know you have a novel with these two, but this is a whole other timeline idea and characters because of it and I'm so impressed. So well done each and every chapter. I don't want to read the last one cause I don't want it to end, but I also so very badly want to read the last one cause they're all so good! XD

oof. This one hits. like really really hits. These characters are so complex and I just love that. Alida especially is such an interesting and creative original character. I love how you've written her with such strength and yet so much vulnerability throughout both of these stories she's in. Just wonderfully wonderfully done.

Art boy Regulus has every piece of my heart. <3 <3 <3 Your writing continues to just pull me into this world and into this relationship and peel away the layers of these two. The way you explain Regulus's stoicnes through Alida's eyes is such a cool perspective.
I love that I'm laughing along with a pairing that has such tragedy attached to them. That you're managed to bring so much fluff and levity to these two without giving up one inch of their histories or personalities. <3 <3 <3

Regulus being so forward in this chapter and I am here for it! Yes. Sir. And I just love how much Alida is into it, but also just can't tear herself away from the potion-making because that is so on brand XD
And I'm sorry, but a hummingbird wakes in the bottom of her stomach?! That's such a great line.
IT IS TO LATE AT NIGHT FOR ME TO BE SCREAMING OBSCENITIES AT FICTIONAL CHARACTERS! AHHHHHHHHH! Wow this chapter packed a serious fucking punch in such a quick scene (a little scene that matters <3 )
The way he has endless apologies on his lips </3 The way he's carrying all that guilt and struggle with him </3 but being by Alida makes it better - not all okay - but better and that's all we can hope for sometimes. And she thinks to lie, but doesn't. She's honest with him and he's honest with her and she's poking at him about Sirius and he doesn't get angry cause he knows she's right he's just not ready and then he says it's a winter constellation I AM NOT OKAY
This collection is giving me all the fluff I hoped for in this challenge and from a pair that are not the sugary sweetest and I just love that. I love the tragedy they're helping eachother come back from it's just beautiful.

I love your approach to this challenge and these prompts with these two. This story still feels like By Blood. The characters are still consistent and true to themselves, they're just able to be more of themselves because ya know, iminent death is looming overhead....
The way her hand goes cold and then warms up when he holds it. The way THEY START SLOW DANCING IN THE GOD DAMN FOREST <3 And there I go. I'm screaming at my computer again. I loved this. I loved this a ton.

I.CAN'T. <3 <3 <3 Regulus is the most adorable kind of weird and unsure and hesitent - but certain. AHHH I love that he's so certain. He doesn't know how to express it. He's still figuring out what it looks like - but he knows he feels it and that she knows he's feeling it AND THEN SHE REACHES OUT FOR HIS HAND AND I JUST FUCKING MELTED AHHHHHH!!!!
The way he thinks he's being childish to feel giddy around her and is like - ew no. XD I love him for that.
I knew better than to start this collection this late at night. I was like - oh, I'll just read one chapter and then come back tomorrow and keep at it. Nope. I'm hooked. I'm in it. I need more of these two being soft and fluffy and so so cute <3 This chapter was such a great set up to this AU side of things for them (which I will cling to dearly when I get back to reading the full novel).
The way his sharp features turn to honey and he has a reluctant smile :heart eyes: and Alida doesn't mind staring at him :heart eyes: JUST ALL THE HEART EYES!!! AHHHHHH!!!!!
omg, the sweetness of how he quickly moves his journal to his other hand so he can hold her hand "before the offer disappears"! Like... idk, it feels like maybe because Regulus is finding it hard to let go of his facade of not caring, he thinks maybe Alida will be the same, she won't allow her hands or eyes to linger because she won't want to show too much vulnerability. But her hand is still there when he reaches out for it, almost kind of surprising to him oir maybe even to them both, that this support can be offered freely and they no longer have to worry about showing their feelings for one another -- but it's still a different dynamic to transition to, after everything that's come before.

Hiya Catherine! Back to this story for some review tag (unless the gods have other plans!).
Anyway, eep! I love the way Alida and Reg are sneaking off in this frantically wild fashion. It totally suits the parts of themselves they try to hide from the rest of the world. So to be this way with one another, is a lovely sort of thing. I am happy in this universe they feel they can be their authentic selves around one another.
Slow dancing in a forest after you've been running a long distance, is hella romantic. You're flushed, breathing heavily, and surrounded by nature. There's just something lovely about that in itself. And whether they dance good or bad it doesn't matter because they are dancing and it is together. And THAT is what's truly important.
I love all the extra tidbits of info we get in this piece too. Its Evgenia's wedding, they're doing something together that Alida's Mama would not approve of, the ballroom is a front of DEs...even if we don't know everything happening in the larger world, you hint at enough that we can tell this is a very stressful time for them both personally because of family drama and also politically because of the larger world issues at hand.
This was a lovely snapshot of a happy marriage and I enjoyed it immensely!

Yessss Reg and Alida fluff! *little hearts in my eyes* I have so many questions. Is this like an AU of by blood, where they still started out they way they do in by blood with an arranged marriage and all the fjhsjdkfa Voldy stuff? And it's like a wonderful fever dream of how they could have been in a different life? Or is it just a total AU where the premise of their marriage isn't the same as in by blood?
The concept of your hobby being one another fits in adorably with the "lazy Sundays" prompt.
I also am very interested in more of that book Alida is reading. XD

I'm back for some more Alida and Regulus - this story makes me feel Reg went too soon in Canon. Love that Alida is able to discern Regulus' microexpressions! Awww, love that they snuck out of the wedding to not-dance elsewhere! Did they escape their wedding or someone elses? They've got this quiet romance thread pulling through this story which I love!
