I. AM. DEAD. This was so freaking fluffy in the angstiest of ways and Imma need a few more chapters of this shit Lo! Are you freaking kidding me?! Harwin is <3 Rhaenyra is <3 but their story is just GUTTING and I've decided that they drive off into the moonlight and never look back - thank you very much <3

Seriously though, the way you capture the emotion in this - the precipice - that edge they're standing on - the way she knows she can't want him but can't stop herself from needing him. Chef's kiss. The fucking weather and ice matching her mood and then comparing that to the fire inside of her and thinking of the havoc they coulda wrecked AHHHHHHH I am now all up in my House of Dragon feels and I also have to go check out this song immediately and probably WEEP!

Hi, Lo.  I am here to read your story, even though I know nothing about A Song of Ice and Fire or House of the Dragon.  So the characters, the plot and even the setting are all a mystery, and I am just reading this little vignette for itself -- two people who once meant a lot to one another and still do, although time and events have broken the bridge between them, and one of them, Rhaenyra, desperately hopes (with no reason to believe that the hope is realistic) that the bridge is not entirely burnt to ashes.

I think of the setting of asoiaf or hotd as ancient, medieval-ish, and this story is not that -- it has a telephone and a car with seatbelts and a steering wheel -- so I just take it as a given that the characters are in a modern setting because the situation, after all, is timeless.  Things happened -- I don't know what -- but Harwin left Rhaenyra some months ago, and although she wants him back desperately, you give us that perfect line "...as if they could ever pretend that their path is anything other than the one laid out before them."

Things have been done that can't be undone.  Decisions have been made that are binding.  Memories that will never be resurrected.  That is true in so many situations, so many times, for so many people.  The setting doesn't matter.  He asks, "Where would you like to go?" but the one place where she would like to go is the one place that will never be an option.

We all, if we live long enough, accumulate holes in our hearts   This is an example of one of them.  Our lives are so terribly imperfect.

A beautiful little piece.  Thank you for writing.

Hi Lo! Here for a quick wintery review <3

Okay I'm so happy that I get the chance to read this, because I was terrible disappointed by how short-lived Rhaenyra and Harwin were in HotD. <3

AHHH no I'm suddenly sad again because this is not a moment of the two of them together, but more despari and loneliness. But you sitll write it so well. In particular, I love the line "The furniture they'd once danced around until the sun began to bleed back into the horizon, bathing them in the softest pink, is long gone as well. A life they could so clearly see only a few months ago, vanished as if it had never existed at all." it really reminds me of happier days long gone </33

I literally feel like there's an empty hole in my chest with this. I love how you juxtapose the iciness and the fire that used to be between them. It's so fitting for her. UGH I want them to give in and kiss so badly, especially when he asks her what she needs and she just wants to say "you" that's just too good. I feel like Harwin is hurting so badly, but just knows that Rhaenyra needs him, and that's even more heartbreaking. Like, it's a little selfish on her part, but I know that deep kind of hurt that you sometimes just have to indulge. ughghgh

And then at the end, when she wants to escape and he asks where would you like to go??? like he KNOWS she wants to be with him, he has to know, even though it can't be. And, for your validation, I do love it and I need to know what happened between them and I also want to see them in their most tumultuous moments of love.

Amazing story <3

Hi Lo! Here to woo Cyclops <3

I was so excited to see a new HOTD fanfic on the archives! The first two paragraphs are so telling and full emotion and I was already bracing myself for the heartache. This line especially a life they could so clearly see only a few months ago, vanished as if it had never existed at all felt incredibly relateable because relationships are so often like this. They feel like they will last forever and yet all can change within a few weeks - or even a few days - and that of which you were certain of becomes something that seemed to have never existed at all.

Ugh I love all of the yeaning here. The way she can barely resist reaching out to touch his cheek. And, especially, the way he cannot stop himself from putting his arms around her when she starts to cry. Whatever's happened between them, the love is still there obviously there for the both of them. I love how Harwin is immediately like "what do you need?" Like, whatever hurt/resentment he had towards her does not compare to his need to comfort her and give her what she needs.

Escape was no longer a tangible place. Stop! This is so sad! But then it kind of does become one again with "Where would you like to go?" Because, even though they no longer share a home, he can, as the song says, take her anyhwere, and she'll be home.

Really great piece! Thank you for witing <3

Love, Quilly.
