Eva, my darling!

Congratulations on another Hufflepuff Story of the Month win! :D

I know I say it every time I review for you, but you have such a stunning talent. You write so vividly, and these drabbles are no exception. They're such a lovely testament to friendship and everyday magic, and you've once again written poetically and perfectly.

Your ability to capture the subtleties of everyday life for Hiccup and Toothless in such a beautiful way floors me. These are just brief looks into their lives, but they're so sweet. They give me a warm, fuzzy feeling and make me want to go find my kitty-baby for a quick snuggle.

Thank you for the lovely read! :)

Best,
Emily

Eva, my love! I'm finally here and I'm so so so excited to be reading these, and completely honoured by these gifts! I thank you from the bottom of my heart! Also, not to be extra or anything, but I have the HTTYD soundtrack playing while I read these :P

So in the last drabble I read I committed to the headcanon of Hiccup as an early riser, but thinking about it in terms of him just needing to go go go and start the day makes me love it even more. Even before he met Toothless, we knew Hiccup was always up to something, always building new inventions. Of course he wouldn't want to sleep in when he needs those daylight hours to create!

AN EARLY-DAWN NAP, oh my god. Bless that lizard! I love that so much. Sleepy baby.

Ahh, my heart! Toothless wanting to protect Hiccup after his nightmares, I just... my heart is full. That was a super dark time for them, and while it was a such a strong moment in their friendship, it was also the hardest. Of course Hiccup would have nightmares about it. Toothless probably does, too. I love that you explored that!

Just the title of the second drabble let me know I was in for a good time, haha. I knew exactly what was coming! :P But of course Toothless has good intentions, ahh! It brought me right back to Gift of the Night Fury. (The best part about Christmas is getting to watch that short on repeat. I think we need a Netflix party this year!) It also made me wonder if Toothless dives like that on purpose so that he always has something to search for :D (3 helmets in one month? My poor Viking boy haha)

Reading about Hiccup trying to have a serious coversation with Stormfly actually made me laugh out loud, haha!

I just love how well you write Toothless! You capture his personality so well, as well as the two sides to him. Yeah, he's a powerful dragon, but he's also a goofball. I love that he makes messes even though he's probably perfectly capable of... not :P and while I hate that it upset Toothless, I think Hiccup's reaction was perfectly justified haha. And I also find it believable that Hiccup would snap at him every now and then. It happens in friendships, especially in such close quarters like these two live. But, like you demostrate beautifully, friends also acknowledge when they've upset the other and do what they can to make it right. Friends forever <3

Now I'm just left all emotional by these two best friends. I love them so much, I love your writing so much, I love you so much! Thank you thank you thank you for writing these! x

For drabble #1 One of the best parts of How To Train Your Dragon is the amazing relationship between a certain boy and his dragon. The way they survive and thrive because each other warms the heart and you’ve created a beautiful drabble to exemplify this-how Hiccup immediately recognizes that Toothless is gone and begins to worry and then how the dragon is always there to guard and protect whether it be daytime or nighttime, real threats or dreams.

I love the description of Toothless’s sleeping habits. I’m not sure why, but it reminds me of Hobbits description of the various meals they have throughout the day.

You’ve done a beautiful job showing a peaceful moment between a special friendship.

Hi Eva!  Aw, I also always link How to Train Your Dragon with B, and this is such a lovely collection of drabbles for her!

I loved this.  I think you captured the friendship between Hiccup and Toothless perfectly in these stories, and I love the way this shows how much their friendship develops from the point that they first meet.  There's really this unspoken (not least because Toothless can't exactly speak) bond between them and they'll always take care of each other, which is so lovely and wholesome to read.  The three different scenes that you chose to write about here really portrayed that bond so well.

The first drabble was so cute - Toothless going out to stand guard for Hiccup after the nightmare was just adorable to imagine!  Even though it was a nominally simple thing to let Toothless sleep when he remembered that, Hiccup's action definitely spoke of their friendship.  I think the second scene might have been my favourite - the way that Toothless held onto the memory of the fish that Hiccup had carved and wouldn't stop trying to recover the token of their friendship was just so sweet!

I loved the final drabble as well, especially with the way that it showed how the friendship is two-sided.  The first two scenes focused on Toothless doing things for Hiccup, while this one showed Hiccup reciprocating and it was just adorable.

You did such a great job (as always) writing these - your description and style were lovely and I thought you did such an impressive job of using little canon details to anchor these stories into the HTTYD universe!

Siân :)
