hey (here for the galazy reviewing event!)

 

I'm baffled to the fact that you've never reviewed this before but positive news for me right now. I love this story because I think it's so clever. I loved seeing the little scenes in snapshot form and the graphics are so good. it's so unexpected when vic and g aren't even together *breathe* i know they're endgame. vic is obviously kinda smitten already though like i love her making a wee bit of an idiot out of herself introducing herself awkwardly again?? i love a bit of awkward humour though. maybe why i love these idiots so much <3

 

"Right at this moment? I don't know - Lexy coming seems like something you'd be more likely to know than me." < hahah, omg, i love their banter so much. fred and vic's banter is always so so good. they just bounce off each other in such a natural way. you do dialogue so well!

 

how, are their parents so nosy?? asking for pictures of their friends and maybe love interests?! i imagine that angie and george are pretty cool parents tbh though but idk about 'is there something going on with her' convo like too realistic. i haven't really read anything when freddie and lexy were a proper thing (only really referenced as a past event) so that's kinda interesting too.

Hi Branwen! Here with a belated entry review for Julie and I's Bi Rep Challenge! :)

 

I hate to admit I'm not as familiar with this 'verse of yours as I probably should be, but nevertheless this is a really cool way to incorporate narrative text, polaroids with dialogue on them, and then the chatfic aspect as well! TBH now this may be because in some of your other fics with these characters other couples are together than are here, so I'm probably just confused why Gallagher and Vic aren't together yet and like, who is this David guy but anywho it's all a lot of fun and everyone's personalities really shine through in how they communicate over text and occasionally in the polaroids. This was a lot of lighthearted fun to read! Great job :)

Thanks for entering my challenge! This is a totally new medium of storytelling on the archives so that's really exciting!

 

Your characters have such a great dynamic and I love their friendship group so much, and reading about all they get up to. You just know them so well, and I can see that, and it makes it so enjoyable to read - the visual elements are so great too!

 

With the text messages, a lot of the characters have a very similar voice so while I enjoyed the dynamic, I couldn't really differentiate friends from siblings, so the sibling relationships didn't quite stand out for me. But I had a great time reading this, and thank you again for entering!

Hey Branwen, here for the swap, omg i love this, how is this a thing, oh i don't know and who cares, it's brilliant?? like it's so much fun, this wonderful combination of a chatfic and visuals and also a little bit of prose thrown in, and letters and emails, and i love it.

 

omg lol mentionitis, that's kinda funny, i don't feel like i've heard it before. also haha, it's of course so typical of their parents to be all annoyingly :EYES: show me the pics!! but it's so sweet to see how the kids are in sort of regular contact, I love reading about healthy family relationships, it makes me happy

 

ooh, fred and lexy being an item or a thing is new for me since i'm so used to him being with Juliet, and even though I do like Juliet a lot (have grown to love her, lol) I have always lowkey like...shipped Fred and Lexy, or was just hyper aware of their history or something, i dunno, i know they're friends in most of your fis and all that, which is cool, i dig that, too, but ummm, this just made me squeal lol

 

also, why don't i know what a pick-up game is? *googles* ok i still don't really get it :D never mind

 

also omg gallagher has a boyfriend?? oh well, good for him, but i'm eager to see where his and vic's friendship/relationship goesss

i mean vic really likes taking polaroids of gallagher and teddy and that's not telling at all about how hot she thinks they both are soooo. of course the most important part of teddy is actually his super fucking adorable dog godric i can see that 1000%.

 

i think i legit died a little at those polaroids of van and the hilarious descriptions (also fucking hell chris evans as van really makes me want like a spin off of van just being extra cool and just existing while being wayyy too hot) anyhow i mean just *the face of a man who is deeply regretting,,,,* fucking gold. but also he's a good older brother

 

i am also firmly on bord the fred and lexy shippy things we're getting here because i love fred denying literally everything to his parents while also probably knowing they won't believe him at all but also lexy is fucking hot in that polaroid.

 

lololo also david and gallagher are cute but also i approve of gallagher's theory that orgasms release dopamine and that's good for studying because yk it must be true i will accept nothing else (also *i want to be stupid* is that not what everyone wants all the time because if not that's rude)

 

ahh okay teddy is vic's boyfriend in this one okay but also obviously there's hella fucking ton of chemistry between her and gallagher even if they're with different people it's just very very visible even just from their texts and the polaroids they take of each other and that's like idk how you managed that but you did and it's fucking great.

hi hello i am here reading this because 1) it's hella fucking crazy amazingly creative like what even how where how did you even get this idea it's so amazing???!? and 2) i mean i just like chaos and jumping around different shenanigans and beyond stories is now my jam it's all cool. the 1) is more important tho.

Hold up. This is just the most creative, stellar idea for an epistolary fic ever. Like. I haven’t read your Shenanigans -verse and I know I need to (DID YOU REALIZE HOW MANY FICS THERE ARE ON THIS WEBSITE? HOLY HELL I FEEL LIKE I’M ABOUT TO PASS OUT FROM REVIEWING AND I’VE ONLY SCRATCHED LIKE THE TOP 3% OF THE ICEBERG) :skull:

But anyway, regardless of me not having read your other Next gen stuff, I really wanted to give this a peek because I’ve seen you talking about it and showing little snippets of graphics and I just… I love it so much. It reminds me of… what’s it called, a very old fic that’s hosted like on its own website or something called the Shoebox Project or something like that? About the Marauders?

Anyway, it’s like a chatfic on steroids, with the emails and the graphics and the narrative woven in, it just makes it feel so fresh and I’m amazed that you created this. With the polaroids using photos that look so organic and candid, some of them, and the fun notes on the back in different fonts (omg, the Fred & Roxy one is especially adorable???)

I'm here, reading and reviewing (finally) for the contest - so sorry about the wait but as you know, life has been ~happening in the world! Anyway, as someone who considers themselves overall pretty unfamiliar with the 'verse you're writing (I've only read the first 10-15 chapters of your original fic, whoops) I think this is an interesting start to your fic!! It's definitely creative, and I enjoy the multimedia element/chatfic parts - I don't consider adding that in my writing to be a particular strength of my own, so I really enjoy seeing other people employ it well. 

 

Overall, a good and interesting start and I look forward to reading more and seeing how you incoporate bisexuality further into the story!!

The Lexy/Fred poloroid section was hella cute. I loved that they have this back and forth with what they write on the pictures, but in the end she totally had the final say on the matter with "you could just stop betting me dates." Like blatantly pointing out the fact that he could just ASK her instead of having to BET on hit hah. I loved that the back of that photograph is blank.

 

I also love that the whole group of friends knows that this is Fred's wacked logic and they totally give him shit until he finally has the conversation and sex with Lexy and they're a couple. You do humor so well in chat form. I am so impressed and entertained, so thank you for writing this!

Ok so I totally LOVE Gallagher! His conversations with David and Vic had me CRACKING UP. "I guess I need to be more clingy," whenever David suggests he has enough time to have another thing going with another freshman...which I can't tell if he's just screwing with him or if it's true, but either way that whole exchange was gold. And Vic being like "I'm not even fucking you, g, and I think your boyfriend is being totally fair," was amazing! I love how you write these characters so much! 

 

And the back and forth on the alcohol they want versus want they'll probably get being underage was totally relatable. It kind of made me nostaglic for those days, but I'm sure my digestive system doesn't miss those days LOL. But anyway...you insert them into this college scene really well. Thanks for sharing this!

Branwen this is such a unique idea for a story! I just love learning more about your shenanigans universe. Granted, I'm reading everything obscenely out of order, but I feel like with this piece I don't need to have read the original source entirely because you allude to enough stuff happening that I can make inferences. Like Vic's totally crushing on Gallagher. And Fred's got something going on with Lexy. 

 

I love the emails that are being sent to their parents. You play up the annoyed "Yes Mum/Dad I'm doing what I'm supposed to be doing and also having fun," tone very well. It's amusing and completely relatable. Anyway, I love this and I really need to get back into this entire universe because everything you write is totally enjoyable.

 

Also, omgawsh I have to mention that I love the different mediums of correspondance you are using within this. Even though it might seem like a mismash of stuff, it totally works in my opinion!
