Hey there! Lily here for bvb. I know that this story is older and I've also probably read it before, but I didn't leave a review and honestly Brains/Brawn stories need all the support because Percy and Oliver are so cute together and I wish that more people wrote them.

And your Percy and Oliver!! They're so cute. They definitely seem happy. I really love how Oliver had a crush on Charlie when he was in first year. That was an interesting thought and I could definitely see a piece about that. Maybe something for me to think about writing haha. I am wondering though if Wood is watching out for the Twins because he finds them attractive or knows that they're trouble makers.

My only CC is that your page breaks are quite distracting and I think that the story would flow much better with simply just big spaces. But no matter what it's such a well done piece and I really enjoyed reading it again!!!

Yours,
Lily

Hello! I'm here to review the entries for the Companion Piece Challenge now that I'm back from my extended hiatus. Apologies for the excruciatingly long wait.

I'm really digging the Percy/Oliver pairing! I'm not sure if I've read a story featuring their ship yet (and if I have, I can't remember), so this is technically a first!

I love that Percy and Olliver both wind up on the Quidditch Pitch this day, both to their own agendas (though, from the sound of Olliver's first passage, he might've also been wanting to see Percy in addition to practicing the play).  I also enjoyed the little bit about Percy already being out of Olliver's reach (even before he lands a Ministry job, for which he's destined).

The idea of 'magnetism' between the two, as they're so alike as outliers, and how they're pulled together because of this. A final 'snap' that brings the two to what they've been resisting all along.  And when they finally kiss, after some awkward and adorable babble, and the sky opens up, it paints a lovely picture.

The image of Olliver and Percy flying together, with Percy finally letting go a bit, is cute! It seems like everything is falling into place, if only for the moment.  I also love Percy's overthinking and worry after, all wrapped up with the acknowledgment that he will gladly follower Olliver anywhere.

As a stand-alone story, this is a completely adorable and squee-worthy vignette into the beginning of a relationship between Percy and Olliver. I'm excited to see how it ties into the other two pieces! Your imagery was exceptionally strong while managing to avoid large blocks of imagery-only text.  Your flow was smooth, despite the interrupted switch of viewpoints -- the transitions weren't jarring and it was always clear which pov was which. Word choice was excellent.

I'm looking forward to reading the next piece!

Hi! I'm here for BvB :)

Wow, this piece packs a punch! I've never shipped Percy and Oliver before, but you brought them together with an almighty bang, and convincingly so. I thought this was beautifully written.

You've shown a side of Percy that was never really depicted in the books yet fits in so well with canon, and you've also stayed true to the aspects of his character we know. I really like the way you have written his character here.

I love the "snapping" and other physics-esque descriptions, and the very effective highlighting of the goal-chasing similarities between the two boys as well. And aw! So cute that they both looked out for each other over the years :)

The weather is a perfect setting for this story too, enhancing the tension and passion between them.

Loved this :)

Author's Response:

Hello Brax! : )

Yay, I’m glad you liked this! I actually never shipped Percy/Oliver either, but I like challenging myself, especially when writing gifts, and I really grew to appreciate the ship over the three stories I wrote for it. : )

Percy is actually one of my favourite minor characters, and I feel people very seldom do him justice, so it’s super great to hear that you think I stayed true to Canon while still showing a different side to him.

It’s also great to hear that the “physics deceit” of this story works for you, and that you like the dynamic I built between the characters. And the weather! Storms have always held a certain power over me, and I definitely think I could do something very unexpected if I met with a crush in a storm, hehe! : P

Thank you so much for this review, you lovely person you!
